The Class IIB Muara Enim Prison, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, South Sumatra has again transferred the Correctional Prisoners (WBP) or inmates. As many as 50 inmates or prisoners were transferred to other prisons, with details of 1 inmate to Class IIA Lahat Prison, 7 inmates to Class IIB Empat Lawang Prison, and 42 inmates to Class III Surulangun Rawas Prison. Monday (25/04/2022).
The transfer of prisoners was carried out to reduce overcapacity by almost 300 percent in the Class IIB Muara Enim prison. The process of releasing the WBP was directly supervised by the Head of Head of Muara Enim, Herdianto accompanied by the Head of KPLP Ressy Setiawan, Kasimin Kamtib Agusnadi, Head of Binadik Giatja Taufik and the security forces. The transferred WBP is a prisoner who has obtained a legal decision by the Muara Enim District Court or the PALI District Court.
Herdianto explained that the transfer of 50 WBP was aimed at reducing overcapacity in the Class IIB Muara Enim Prison. This can reduce the possibility of disturbances in security and order at the Class IIB Muara Enim Prison. Moreover, it is still in the state of the holy month of Ramadan.
“Currently the Class IIB Muara Enim Prison is inhabited by 1209 WBP, while the capacity should only be occupied by 486 people, of course the Class IIB Muara Enim Prison has experienced almost 300 percent over capacity. Meanwhile the number of officers and facilities is limited to realize an optimal coaching process, ” said Herdianto.
The transfer of 50 inmates or prisoners was carried out under tight escort by Muara Enim Class IIB Prison officers assisted by 4 fully armed Muara Enim POLRES. The transfer of 50 inmates or prisoners has received approval from the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office.
Finally, Herdianto also explained that through the process of transferring the inmates, hopefully the Class IIB Muara Enim Prison will remain in a safe and conducive situation and the existing coaching program can run well for the inmates or inmates.
